We used the Corona-related shutdown in April 2020 to renovate and beautify our monastery jar. We uncovered and renovated a mural by the artist Fritz Laube in the Jägerzimmer. It was built in 1971 and was covered up during renovation work in the mid-2000s.
Fritz Laube was born in Berlin in 1914 and lived with his family in Vienenburg from 1947. As a freelance painter, he earned his money mainly with church, wall and picture paintings, and he also carried out restorations. But Laube’s passion was animal and landscape painting. Studies for this he made to a large extent in his Harz homeland. The artist died in Bad Harzburg in 1993.
Fritz Laube’s detailed and humorous Wöltingerode wall painting is a lovingly designed eye-catcher for our guests and a real enrichment for the monastery inn.
